Poetic Reflections of Anguish
Inspired by the biography and work of writer Sylvia Plath, "Sylvia" by director Nemanja Mijović is an intriguing performance, formally experimental, multimedia, and multi-genre. The stage language is built by the actors' lively, direct performance, integrated with previously recorded audio and video, as well as subtitles displaying Sylvia's thoughts, functional changes in the stage space, and audience participation in one part of this interesting three-part performance. It unfolds in different spaces of the Bitef Theatre building, thoughtfully combining dramatic and narrative play with intense physical, dance expression, as well as with experimental visual performance and audience participation (in the middle part of the performance, in the Bitef Art Cafe).
