Host Sloba was making rakia, he had no idea WHO was lurking between the old beams of the house: Everything was caught on CAMERA

Did you know that May is actually the peak season for snakes in our area. A large smooth snake was recently caught among the beams of an old house, while host Slobodan was making rakia just below them. Snake catcher Vladica Stanković skillfully caught the snake, which was almost camouflaged into the background and barely visible.

TL;DR

  • May is the peak season for snake activity in the Balkans.
  • Snakes are more active in May as they seek mates and require sunlight for warmth and energy after hibernation.
  • Common snakes found near homes (smooth snakes, grass snakes, dice snakes) are harmless.
  • Venomous snakes like vipers and adders generally inhabit rocky, mountainous, or uninhabited areas.
  • Snakes enter homes for food (rodents), shelter, shade, or nesting sites, not to attack people.
