All the Controversies of the Venice Biennale
The jury of the Venice Biennale collectively resigned on the last day of April following all the controversies surrounding the world's largest international art exhibition, media reported. The resignation followed a week after the jury announced that Russia and Israel would be excluded from the awards, due to the International Criminal Court (ICC) issuing arrest warrants for war crimes against their leaders. Russian President Vladimir Putin is sought by the ICC for alleged war crime of 'illegal deportation' of Ukrainian children. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is the subject of an arrest warrant, issued in 2024, for war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip, according to 'Le Figaro' and AFP.
