"Fragile" at the House of Legacies
The painting exhibition "Fragile" by Ivica Aranđus has opened at the Gallery of the House of Legacies on Knez Mihailova Street. With a retrospective exhibition comprising seventy large-format oil-on-canvas works, the Montenegrin artist Aranđus, described by art critic Maja Živanović as a painter of conscience and simulacra of today, is being presented to the Belgrade public for the first time. She explains that he exposes society, religion, the fall of morality, and the lack of mercy in his works. Through an atypical oeuvre dominated by the antipodes of light and darkness, beauty and brutality, fragility and strength, the author reminds us that the role of art is to break down prejudices, and the role of the artist is to leave a critical mark on the time in which his works were created.
