How Much Do We Recognize Ourselves in 'The Stranger' Today?

The Belgrade Film Festival has delighted us with a new adaptation of Camus' 'The Stranger' (1942), realized by François Ozon last year. The film recently won three main awards at the 31st 'Prix Lumières': for best film, best actor (Benjamin Voisin), and best cinematography (Manuel Dacos). This black-and-white drama, which already has a million viewers in France, has also received four nominations for the 2026 'César' awards. The director has made a film that will be remembered. He had the courage to tackle one of the most celebrated novels in French and world literature, a masterpiece that we have all read, at least as school reading.
