At the 15th European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad, held in Bordeaux, Serbia won sixth place in the team competition, and student Vanja Jelovac from the Mathematical Gymnasium in Belgrade won a gold medal, student Nina Šušić from the same school won a silver, and Irina Stanišić from the First Kragujevac Gymnasium won a bronze medal.

Professor Doctor Dragoljub Veličković passed away on April 9, 2026. Dragoljub Veličković was born on August 26, 1943, in Lopardince (Bujanovac municipality). A major change is being prepared from the 2027/2028 school year in Serbia, with a planned increase in the threshold for enrollment in gymnasiums and secondary vocational schools, according to the latest statement from the Ministry of Education. According to it, the minimum threshold for enrollment in gymnasiums will be, as planned in the proposal, 70 points based on the success in the final exam and the general success from the sixth to the eighth grade of primary school, while the same for educational profiles in four-year secondary vocational schools and in artistic education and training would amount to 60 points.
