Pro-government says eight Partizan fans turned a Niš match into a criminal case
Eight Partizan supporters were arrested after fighting during Radnički Niš’s 3–2 win over Partizan. Police also reported a flare and fireworks, triggering separate misdemeanor proceedings.
Eight Partizan supporters were arrested after a fight broke out during Wednesday’s Radnički Niš–Partizan SuperLiga match at Čair Stadium in Niš, a game Partizan won 3–2. Police said the arrests followed footage emerging of the altercation.1
The Interior Ministry said officers in Niš acted on orders from the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office. The eight suspects—identified by initials and listed as residents of Belgrade, Zemun and Aranđelovac—are suspected of the criminal offense of violent behavior at a sporting event or public gathering.1
According to the ministry’s account, the supporters involved were not described as opposing fan groups but as Partizan fans who fought among themselves during the match. They were taken before the higher public prosecutor in Niš along with criminal complaints. The statement did not provide details on injuries or explain what sparked the confrontation.1
Police also reported separate incidents involving prohibited pyrotechnics. A flare was allegedly found on A. V., 27, from Vrbas, while a 16-year-old from Kruševac was allegedly carrying three powerful firecrackers. Misdemeanor complaints will be filed against both under Serbia’s law on preventing violence and disorderly conduct at sporting events.1
The arrests and additional charges came as authorities continued responding to disorder at the stadium, with the ministry presenting the case primarily as a matter of criminal and public-safety enforcement.
