Drecun: Difficult to expect Kurti to repeat or achieve a better result in elections
President of the Parliamentary Security Committee Milovan Drecun assessed today that it is difficult to expect the Prime Minister of the provisional institutions of Pristina in technical mandate, Albin Kurti, to achieve the same or a better result in the early parliamentary elections than in the previous ones.
TL;DR
- Albin Kurti is unlikely to repeat or improve his previous election results.
- The early elections were called due to the unwillingness of Kurti's Self-Determination party and the opposition to compromise.
- Kurti refused to compromise on sharing power, opting for new elections instead.
- Kurti's past success with the Albanian diaspora might not translate to the next election, as their voting patterns differ from those focused on domestic issues.
- The severe sentences for Serbs in the Banjska case are viewed as retaliation and an attempt to intimidate Serbs.
- Drecun questions the harshness of sentences for Serbs compared to leniency shown towards members of terrorist organizations.
