Feast of Light and Hope: Why the Presentation of Jesus is a Special Day in the Church Calendar
The Presentation of Jesus is one of the most significant Christian holidays celebrated by the Serbian Orthodox Church and believers on February 15th. This holiday is celebrated exactly forty days after Christmas and commemorates the day when the Virgin Mary first brought the newborn Jesus Christ into the Jerusalem Temple to dedicate him to God, in accordance with the laws of Moses. Then, according to tradition, the Virgin Mary and Joseph met the righteous elder Simeon the God-bearer, who took Christ into his arms and greeted him as the Savior, the first meeting of God and man in the temple.
