The leaders kept giving way to each other. We listened to them. We had to. Dust choked us, fatigue overcame us, our legs were heavy as lead, but we held each other's hands tighter, pulled and pushed each other in the desire to endure, to persevere, to dance in that circle until the end of life, if necessary.
