Delić: Doctors Have Finally Awakened
Retired Medical Faculty Professor Dr. Dragan Delić stated for N1, regarding yesterday's elections in the Medical Chamber and high turnout, that doctors in Serbia have finally woken up.

TL;DR
- Turnout in the Serbian Medical Chamber elections dramatically increased, unlike previous elections with 3-9% participation.
- Doctors have "finally woken up" and realized the importance of the Medical Chamber.
- Physicians feel the Chamber is not theirs and want a say, as they pay substantial monthly contributions (0.8% of salary) which are spent without control, totaling around five million euros annually.
- The Medical Chamber is defined as mandatory, with doctors obliged to organize and protect their profession.
- The Chamber performs important tasks, some assigned by the state, yet it is independent.
- Results for whether independent candidates will have a majority in the Chamber's Assembly are expected in two weeks.
- Delić believes the Medical Chamber will be "something completely different" in two weeks due to societal changes reflecting in the healthcare system.
- The current regime prefers a cooperative Chamber that remains silent and avoids proposing changes.
- The authorities' main opponent is a creative, proactive elite characterized by ideas, energy, youth, and knowledge, with knowledge being the biggest problem for them.
