Grandpa Rade from Martinci Speaks and Translates German, Became a Language Professor with Only Four Grades of School
In the Srem village of Martinci, there lives a man whose life story shows that it's never too late to learn and that a diploma is not the only measure of education. Rade Šumarski, born in 1943 in the midst of World War II, completed only four grades of elementary school, but thanks to immense persistence and a love for books, he mastered the German language to a level where he now reads, speaks, and translates it.
