Power in a Woman's Body
Berlin – At the recently concluded 76th Berlinale film festival, multilingual German stage and film actress Sandra Hüller was honored with a Silver Bear for Best Actress in the film 'Rose'. In this black-and-white film by Markus Schleinzer, set in the period after the brutal Thirty Years' War (1618–1648), Hüller plays a silent woman, covered in scars on her face and body, disguised as a surviving soldier. She arrives in a small Protestant village to take over a long-abandoned farm, posing as the owner's long-lost son. The villagers accept her as a valuable, God-fearing, and exemplary person, but she lives in constant fear of her lie being discovered, with potentially fatal consequences. As Hollywood has also shown great interest in her, we will soon see her alongside Tom Cruise in Alejandro G. Iñárritu's 'The Excavation' and with Ryan Gosling in Phil Lord and Christopher Miller's sci-fi film 'Project Hail Mary'.
