According to the author, the exhibition is part of a broader project launched in 2018 with the aim of rescuing this significant segment of national cultural heritage from oblivion and bringing it closer to the public. Throughout history, fortresses served not only as fortification and military objects but were centers of political, economic, and cultural life in these regions, thus representing important testimony to our country's past, emphasizes Svetlana Dingarac. She adds that her project covers fortifications from the Late Antique and Early Byzantine periods, as well as the Middle Ages, with plans to cover fortresses from other epochs.
