A Piece of Advice
It is impossible to guess what is brewing in the mind of an autocrat who is facing a serious threat of losing power for the first time. Every autocrat is also a masochist, so our own enjoys tormenting the entire nation with meaningless announcements and declarations. He is doing his best to drive us crazy, but just as he has learned some lessons, we are not to be underestimated anymore.
To be clear, he has no better time for elections than a date in July. It would be a quick campaign, in the middle of holidays, under the strong sun. Voter turnout would be lower than expected, with fewer people ready to defend the election will. For now, there is still some money for all those machinations with which he has been buying his peace in the past period. The more he delays the elections, the closer the presidential elections become, which his coalition simply cannot win.
