Vandalism of an Orthodox Shrine in the Center of Zagreb
During the night of April 22/23, the Cathedral Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord on Cvjetni Trg in the center of Zagreb was vandalized. Zagreb police quickly apprehended a man suspected of the act after being alerted by citizens. He is accused of throwing chairs and other objects from nearby catering establishments at the entrance, fence, and courtyard of the church during the night, breaking a stained-glass window about a hundred years old and damaging the external lighting of the building. "The investigation will determine the motive and all circumstances of the attack. If it is proven that the motive was driven by hatred or intolerance, such an act will be treated with the full force of the law," stated the Croatian Ministry of Interior.
