How Passenger Planes Fly During Wartime
For the last two weeks, as drones and missiles have flown over Iran and the Persian Gulf, air traffic controllers have been guiding passenger planes through safer but congested airspace amid missile and drone clashes. Flight tracking maps show how congested the airspace over Egypt and Georgia has become. Each controller manages a section of the map, coordinating with colleagues on incoming and outgoing aircraft.
