"PEOPLE, NO ONE TELLS YOU THIS!" A Balkan man honestly shares about the harsh life in Germany: I earn 2,700 euros and I'm broke, and my AUNT IS LOOKING FOR A BRIDE FOR ME IN VILLAGES!
For decades, Germany has been a symbol of security and better earnings for many Croats. Thousands left to seek a living, believing that a more stable and dignified life awaited them there. According to data from the Central Register of Foreigners from January 2026, 414,555 people with Croatian citizenship live in Germany today. When those with Croatian origin or dual citizenship are added, estimates suggest nearly half a million people. Croats are thus among the most numerous foreigners, ranking ninth by population.
