Ministry: New regulation for the "100% from Serbia" food label

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management announced today that a Rulebook on amendments and additions to the Rulebook on labeling, marking and advertising of food has been prepared, with the aim of further supporting the development of domestic production and strengthening consumer confidence.

Ministry: New regulation for the "100% from Serbia" food label

TL;DR

  • A new voluntary "100% from Serbia" graphic label will be introduced for food products sourced entirely from Serbia.
  • Exceptions for the "100% from Serbia" label include minimal amounts of ingredients like salt, additives, and enzymes, not exceeding two percent of the total product.
  • Existing specific meat origin labels will be replaced by the unified "100% from Serbia" mark.
  • Mandatory clear origin labeling with larger font sizes will apply to fresh, chilled, and frozen meats (pork, lamb, goat, beef, poultry) and certain beef products not from Serbia.
  • Producers and processors of milk and dairy products sold in Serbia must clearly state their name and address on packaging.
  • Food labeled before the new regulations can remain on the market until their expiry date, but no later than June 30, 2026.
  • New labeling rules for milk/dairy and non-Serbian meats take effect on July 1, 2026.
  • The "100% from Serbia" label can be used immediately upon the rulebook's publication.
