Serbian citizens targeted by WORLDWIDE scammers: Ministry of Interior issues warning, be careful, one click can cost you dearly!
The Police Administration in Niš warned citizens that users of a "popular messaging application" have been observed receiving messages from the accounts of people they know, asking for an urgent loan of a large sum of money to be paid into a giro account, it was announced tonight by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

TL;DR
- Users of popular messaging apps are receiving messages from known contacts asking for urgent loans.
- The requested money is to be transferred to a giro account, which does not belong to the acquaintance.
- The scam may start with a request to vote for a child named Marija, and if a link is clicked, hackers gain account control.
- Citizens are urged to report such messages to the police and not to transfer money until they verify the sender.
- Similar scams have been reported in Smederevo, Novi Pazar, and Croatia, using variations of the same tactic.
