German Politician: EU Accession Is Currently Not in the Interest of Serbia, Germany, or Europe
The leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Alice Weidel, assessed that "hasty or unconditional accession to the European Union (EU) would currently not be in the interest of Serbia, Germany, or Europe."

TL;DR
- Hasty or unconditional EU accession for Serbia is not in the interest of Serbia, Germany, or Europe.
- Serbia would have to give up a significant part of its independence, with economic and political benefits not outweighing the risks.
- Germany should be a reliable, honest, bilateral, pragmatic, and equal partner.
- Germany should support Serbia's strengthening through fair trade, investments, technology transfer, and cultural exchange, without political tutelage.
- Serbia has the right to go its own way, with or without the EU, and Germany should respect and support this right.
- Historical and contemporary Balkan challenges, including Kosovo, should not be exacerbated by EU ideological demands.
- A stable and peaceful region requires realism, mutual respect, and solutions considering all parties' interests, not unique solutions from Brussels.
