This is what the Science and Technology Park in the city on the Morava looks like, director Vasilić reveals
At the site where the "Cer" factory once stood, one of the symbols of Čačak's industrial development in the second half of the twentieth century, the construction of the new Science and Technology Park Čačak building is nearing completion these days. The factory, which employed thousands of workers for decades and was one of the pillars of the city's economic life, was completely destroyed during the NATO bombing in 1999. Twenty-seven years later, the same place, but under different circumstances, can be said to be a testament to the transformation from production facility ruins to a modern infrastructural edifice.
TL;DR
- The new Science and Technology Park (NTP) building in Čačak is nearing completion on the site of the former "Cer" factory.
- The NTP will feature approximately 11,500 square meters of usable space, including offices, coworking areas, and prototype development workshops.
- The park aims to stimulate local economic development by supporting startups and innovative companies, connecting them with investors, and providing essential infrastructure and expertise.
- A key objective is to retain young talent in Serbia's interior by fostering a culture of innovation and providing viable career prospects within their local communities.
- Public calls for new members, including startups and technology development companies, are now open, with applications processed through an online platform and reviewed by an independent commission.
- The NTP will focus on strengthening its programmatic activities, offering mentorship, education, and development programs for startup teams.
- The project signifies a transformation of Čačak from an industrial past to a knowledge and innovation-based economy, aiming to position the city and western Serbia as a relevant innovation center.
