Jedan od najpotresnijih slučajeva krađe beba u istoriji Južne Afrike otkriven je tek nakon neverovatnih 17 godina i to zahvaljujući slučajnom susretu u školi. Sve je počelo u aprilu 1997. godine, kada je žena prerušena u medicinsku sestru mirno izašla iz bolnice u Kejptaunu noseći bebu staru svega dva dana. Niko nije posumnjao da dete koje drži u naručju nije njeno.
