Pensions One Step Away from Minimum Wage

TL;DR
- Average pension in December 2025 reached 56,900 dinars (485 euros), a 94% increase compared to late 2021.
- Real pension growth over four years is estimated at over 42%, exceeding consumer price increases.
- Comparison to pensions in Germany, Norway, and Luxembourg is deemed only partially accurate, with reservations for those on below-average pensions.
- From 2013 to 2021, average pensions grew by 22.2% while consumer prices rose by 28%.
- Over 13 years, average pensions grew by 137% (from 204 to 485 euros), but this is lower than average salary and GDP growth.
- Real pension growth of 36% means today's purchasing power is equivalent to a 278 euro pension in December 2012.
- Achieving a 700 euro average pension would require five years of 8.1% average GDP growth.
- Proposed solutions include accelerated livestock and food production, greater energy security, increased domestic and superior foreign investment, bank support, educational investment, and a different personnel policy.
- A one-time increase of the average pension to at least 50% of the average salary is suggested, with subsequent growth aligned with salary increases.
