NO CHOICE! After strawberry theft and great damage near Kikinda, owner secures property with cameras, dogs, and electricity (PHOTO)
Svetlana Stojanović from Kikinda is still tallying the damage and trying to recover from the scene she encountered on the outskirts of the city. Instead of neat rows of organic strawberries, she was met with torn agrotextile and uprooted young plants. Thieves not only stole the fruits, but, as she says, literally mutilated the young plantation in which she invested a lot of work, money, and time. She has been engaged in organic production since 2003, and last year she planted about 2,000 young strawberry seedlings. Due to recent frosts, the plantation was covered with agrotextile.
