How heavy are the stone blocks at Stonehenge?
Almost 45 tons* When you get close to Stonehenge, you can see the remains of a row. The stone blocks are gigantic, the largest is more than nine meters long, and each piece weighs almost 45 tons. Most of the stone blocks have fallen, and many have disappeared, probably broken long ago for the construction of surrounding houses and roads. However, enough stone blocks remain so that a visitor to Stonehenge can get an idea of its former appearance. Inside the circular embankment, about 100 meters in diameter, 30 upright stone pillars and 30 stone beams once formed a complete inner circle, in the center of which was a horseshoe-shaped row of stone blocks and beams.
