The Existence of Cinema is a Kind of Antidote

Finnish award-winning director and screenwriter Jenni Toivoniemi was a guest at the recently held Finnish Film Week at the Cultural Center of Belgrade, with her film "Butterflies" (nominated for the "Jussi" Award in the Best Actor Debut category, and received a special award at the Aswan Festival). Jenni had already presented herself to the audience of our festival with her first work "Games Between Friends". Her short film "The Date" from 2013 was awarded at the prestigious "Sundance" and "Berlinale" festivals. Jenni is also the author of two theater plays and one novel, and she wrote the screenplay for the series "Corso" and "Carpe F*cking Diem". In the film "Butterflies", written by Ana Brokkin, the main character Siri is dedicated to her job as an advisor to the Minister of Economy, but at one point, along with the dominant minister, she finds herself at a tango festival in her small hometown. There she confronts her father, a tango singer, who hides from her the fact that he has gone bankrupt and is working as a driver at the festival...
