Modernization of the railway begins, trains will "fly" at up to 200 km/h
In recent years, Serbia has been getting the most modern highways, but also a railway line designed for high-speed trains that will forever change travel in our country. After the high-speed line Belgrade - Novi Sad - Subotica - Budapest, the focus is now on connecting the capital with the south of our country, i.e., Niš, which is becoming an important traffic hub.

TL;DR

- Travel time between Belgrade and Niš is expected to be reduced to around 100 minutes.
- The project includes modernizing existing track, building new bridges and viaducts, and constructing underpasses.
- Numerous stations and stops will be reconstructed, some will be eliminated, and new ones will be built.
- All 48 existing level crossings will be eliminated and replaced with 30 new underpasses and overpasses.
- A new tunnel, Tunnel Đunis, will be built, and part of the line will be double-tracked.
