TL;DR
- Daily deliveries of wood pellets are selling out across Serbia due to high demand.
- Difficult winter conditions are hindering wood harvesting, slowing pellet production.
- Pellet prices remain unrealistically high, reaching up to 45% higher than in September.
- Serbia imported a substantial amount of wood pellets in November, equivalent to six months of normal imports.
- Experts advise purchasing heating fuel in spring when prices are lower and supply is abundant.
- Domestic pellet production exceeds consumption, allowing for exports.
- Wood pellets are environmentally friendly, producing no harmful emissions.
- High prices may lead consumers to switch back to other heating sources or to heat pumps.
- Despite high prices, pellet is expected to remain a dominant heating fuel due to its comfort.
